Saturday’s skate park competition at Camberwell Junction marked an end of an era for the South Eastern Metro Series. With over 1500 committed parents and spectators, 310 competitors & 10 insane rounds it all boiled down to 1 super rad skate park party. Big thankyou to all the parents, friends & family pets who make it down to show support for our park heroes and huge congrats to absolutely everyone who got involved in the competitions throughout the series.

Junction round was perched in deep water as the seasons crossed over,  the solstice crept closer and the likelihood of rainout increased. It seems that third time’s a charm as our third reschedule eventuated in a somewhat rainless day.

Scoot cats kicked of the day as per tradition, with local newcomers getting into the swing of things and giving Liam Webster & Tom Green a run for their money. Heaps of prizes from our mates at Grit Scooters and Scooter Hut kept these dudes psyched and ready for the next season!

BMX riders rode into the eye of the storm, as the looming clouds rolled over the skate park. Junction saw the likes of league veteran and & competition madman Brody Hamilton take out first place with a buzzer beater double tail whip over the ski jump. Honourable mention to the man Otis Walsh for firing out a banging 45 full of tech-wiz manoeuvres.

1:30 arrived and the skateboarders were cooking up a pot of pop, power & style. Junction comp was going off and the tricks were too hot to handle. Koby Mitchell shone through in the U12 div with quick feet, and heavy drops thanks to his first try rebait and a big ollie into some hearty transition.

16 & under was ultra-tight, with a combo of league followers making an impact & local cats joining the pack! Jake Pucar is known for being good but, holy smokes, this guy can skate like a chameleon. Pucar managed to adapt to his environment and bash out 45 secs of street and transition mayhem.

Opens division was ripe breeding ground for ripping skaters, and our females sure know how to handle the stunt wood. Massive ups to Both Charlotte Heath and Amelia Hitchcock for blasting transition not only on the day, but ALL SEASON! The open dudes ripped just as hard, Jake McDonough rolled out some face melting style to take 1st place and score himself the bragging rights of the year!

Again, huge thanks to everyone that came down to the Grand Final round & for everyone’s efforts all season. Big thanks to all our sponsors & to the Boroondara council for putting together such an awesome event. Can’t wait to make it all happen again, so WATCH THIS SPACE for more info on the up and coming series!
